Our Mission
Oasis Hoop Retreat strives to provide an inclusive hoop dance retreat with a top quality experience where everyone feels welcome. Our retreat was made for the hoop community to come together to share and learn from one another in a safe and healthy space.
We believe in providing the tools for you to find inspiration and grow your flow in paradise all while appreciating and learning about the local culture.
We are always growing and evolving to ensure you experience the best environment for growing your flow and tapping into your play.
Creator/Founder
This event was dreamt into reality by Rebecca Jim (aka Hooptrip). Rebecca (she/her) is a Canadian hoop dancer and has been a part of the hoop community since 2014. From the start she has always maintained one goal; spread the hoop love to as many people as possible.
Throughout her hoop journey she has accomplished becoming a hoopsmith, performing locally and internationally, hosting flow jams, co-creating West Coast Hoop Camp 2019, and more. Oasis Hoop Retreat has been a dream for many years for Rebecca, after moving to Costa Rica in 2020 she knew it was time to put her plan into action after being inspired by the beauty of her new home.
On top of her desire to create a safe space for hoopers and flow artists, Rebecca strives to support businesses and organizations that are contributing to the hoop community.

Planet Janet Hoops (she/they) is a queer multi-artist who has been teaching, creating events, and performing along the west coast of BC Canada for over a decade. Janet grew up inspired by nature on SDȺY¸ES (Pender Island) and currently lives on the traditional territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt and SȾÁUTW̱ peoples (Victoria, BC Canada).
Janet balances work as a somatic intimacy coach and relationship counsellor, organic farmer and parent of two kids by pursuing her dynamic artistic talents. Janet has a passion for supporting the community and sharing circus arts with all people, especially harnessing the healing power of play and therapeutic qualities of expressive arts through programs with youth and adults.
Through her company Planet Janet Circus Entertainment, she spins and throws multiple props, clowns, walks on stilts, dabbles in aerials, while hula hooping and fire dancing are her first loves. Janet weaves together styles of traditional hoop dance with contemporary flow arts and sometimes a side of weirdness and comedy to tell different stories and emotional expressions on the stage. Hulahooping has helped her through many challenging times in her life; the movement, expressing what words can’t, the communities built, friends made and places the sacred circle has taken her have all been part of a magical healing journey that she is grateful to support others through.
Janet is a sought after performer and collaborator for her creativity, dynamic talents and professionalism.
