Our Mission

Oasis Hoop Retreat strives to provide an inclusive hoop dance retreat with a top quality experience where everyone feels welcome. Our retreat was made for the hoop community to come together to share and learn from one another in a safe and healthy space.
We believe in providing the tools for you to find inspiration and grow your flow in paradise all while appreciating and learning about the local culture.

Oasis Hoop Retreat prides ourselves on bringing undiscovered hoop instructors from all over the world, as well as your favorite instructors in the community. We are always growing and evolving to ensure you experience the best environment for growing your flow and tapping into your play.

This event was dreamt into reality by Rebecca Jim (aka Hooptrip). Rebecca (she/her) is of First Nations, Mexican, and Russian heritage from Canada and has been a part of the hoop community since 2014. From the start she has always maintained one goal; spread the hoop love to as many people as possible.

Throughout her hoop journey she has accomplished becoming a hoopsmith, performing locally and internationally, hosting flow jams, co-creating West Coast Hoop Camp 2019, and more. Oasis Hoop Retreat has been a dream for many years for Rebecca, after moving to Costa Rica in 2020 she knew it was time to put her plan into action after being inspired by the beauty of her new home.

On top of her desire to create a safe space for hoopers and flow artists, Rebecca strives to support businesses and organizations that are contributing to the hoop community.

Brandin is a 32-year-old Polynesian American artist of German and Polish heritage, proudly based in Detroit, USA. For over 11 years, he has dedicated himself to the art of prop manipulation, specializing in hooping and fire performance. As an experienced instructor, Brandin brings a deep passion for flow arts and a commitment to sharing movement as a form of expression, empowerment, and connection.
A proud gay man and active global community member, Brandin has traveled the world to attend and volunteer at retreats and festivals, contributing his skills, energy, and warmth to gatherings that celebrate creativity and self-discovery. His artistic journey is deeply intertwined with the communities he supports, where he continues to both teach and learn in equal measure.
As the beloved resident HOOPDADDY of Oasis, Brandin takes immense pride in curating a safe, inclusive, and playful environment for everyone. His dedication to the well-being of all attendees is evident in every interaction, workshop, and moment of joy he helps cultivate. With an infectious spirit and a heart for community care, Brandin is passionate about creating unforgettable experiences that leave lasting impressions.
Brandin has been a part of Oasis since its very inception, helping shape the culture and energy of the gathering with his enduring presence, leadership, and radiant artistry. No matter where you are at in your flow journey, Hoop Daddy will help guide you through this magical week spent with Oasis!
